Single Opt Ins now available for your SMS Services and Short Codes

55

Up to now we only supported double opt ins for your SMS services, but today we are proud to announce that we added the option of single opt ins too! This should allow you to build services that are more agile to interact with and increase the chance of getting new subscribers.

What are Double Opt Ins?

So far all our short codes required that your clients confirm that they wanted to subscribe to your service.

For example, if you own an SMS service that runs on the short code 12345 under the keyword “DEALS”, it wasn’t enough for a client to send “DEALS” to 12345.

Instead, when doing so, they would get a welcome message and then they should send “DEALS YES” or “YES DEALS” in order to confirm that they want to opt in to your service.

This is effectively a double opt in mechanism, the client must confirm that they want to opt in.

What are Single Opt Ins?

With single opt ins, clients can subscribe right away by just sending an SMS with your keyword directly to your short code.

Following with the above example, a client would be automatically subscribed to your service once he/she sends “DEALS” to the short code 12345.

How to setup Single Opt Ins

When requesting a new SMS Service, specify that you want it to support “single opt in” subscriptions, and that’s it 🙂
